Creating Analytic Report Templates

You can save an analytic report as a template to create similar reports in the future.

Procedure

To create an Analytic Report Template, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Analytics menu, click Create New.
  2. Select the type of template you want to create: Basic, Trend, or Top N.

A page that requests information for creating your report is displayed.

  3. Specify a name to identify your report and a description for the report such as a summary of the report contents.
  4. In the Report Type section, the Original option is selected by default.
Note: The Top Reports option is not applicable for creating an analytic template.
  5. From the Show All list, select a Dimension or the Transactions option that is based on your requirement.
  6. From the Whose list, select a basis for the report.
  7. You can select an attribute, a measure, or a dimension instance count as the basis for your report.

If you select a dimension instance count as the basis, you must select a level from the Level list. Dimensions having leaf nodes at varying levels are referred to as having an unbalanced hierarchy. For unbalanced-hierarchy dimensions, if you select a level x for the analytic query, you get incorrect leaf node totals because x might not necessarily be a leaf node. To avoid this, select the All Leaf Nodes option from the Levels drop-down list.

  8. Select a condition from the Search Criteria drop-down list. This condition defines the nature of relationship between the dimension (or transaction) and the basis (attribute, measure, or dimension instance count) of the report.
  9. Specify value or details of the condition in the adjacent text box. Show all GL_ACCOUNT whose FULL-NM does not contain PCN. If you select a measure from the Whose list, the following additional options available in the area under Search Criteria are activated:
    • None
    • % of Total Measure
    • % of Filtered Measure
    • % of Total Node Measure
  10. Click Commit Criteria.

The conditions that you specified for your report are displayed. You can specify a maximum of three conditions. You can remove an existing condition but cannot edit it.

  11. Click Save As Template to save the report as a template.
Note: You can use one template to create more templates. You can also update the existing templates. You can update only the analytic conditions and not the filters.
