Document Types

A contract or a document type can be of three different types in Emptoris® Contract Management.

The type of a document determines the activities that are supported for the document. Depending on the type, the components in the document change.

The following table lists the types of documents that are available in Emptoris Contract Management.

Table 1. Document Types
Document type Description
Contract

A contract is an agreement between two or more parties, especially one that is written and enforceable by law.

Amendment

An amendment is a contract that includes changes to an executed contract. Changes include addition, deletion, and modification of terms and conditions. An amendment is of the same category as the original contract, and contains all features that are available in a contract. It also contains links to the original contract.

An amendment is also used to represent extension, addendum, or change order that extends, changes, or supersedes the original contract. Properties can also be modified in the amendment.

Quote

A quote is a sales agreement that contains an offer of pricing for goods or services. A quote has a date range that represents the valid period of the quote's pricing. Each quote is unique.
