Definition

A contract template is an outline of a contract and can be defined for certain types of contracts, or for a combination of contracts. A contract template is classified on the basis of contract categories and classes.

Elements in a contract template

A contract template contains terms, milestone events, approval processes, security lists, folders, and line standards.

Authored and received contracts and amendments also contain language and line clauses along with the other elements that are defined in the contract template.

In a received contract or amendment, a contract template serves as a checklist of clause templates and terms to which clauses and terms can be mapped.
