Contract Hold and Release

Executed and Active contracts and amendments can be put on hold.

Contracts on hold

A contract or amendment that is on hold is not legally binding even if the effective start date is past. A contract can be put on hold for reasons that are predefined. When the effective end date of a contract that is on hold is reached, the contract expires. A contract that is on hold cannot be renewed.

The executed amendments of an active contract that is on hold are also put on hold. However, amendments cannot be put on hold separately. Also, any amendment that is not executed is not affected.

Notifications and properties

A notification is sent to the specified users when a contract is put on hold. An on-hold contract carries forward the same properties and frozen properties of its executed state.

Contract release

When the contract holder of a contract releases a contract, the contract goes back into the state in which it was previously. If the contract is not released, the contract expires on the effective end date.
