There are three types of contract categories in Emptoris® Contract Management.
Definition
The category of a contract determines
the type of transaction lines that are available for the contract.
The category also determines whether you can renew the contract.
The following table lists the contract categories available in Emptoris Contract Management.

| Purchase agreement |
- Presented to a vendor or supplier
- Contains lines that represent products or services that are purchased at the specified price,
quantity, and terms
- Contains lines that can also describe the purchase in some other means

- Presented to a prospective customer or a renewing customer
- Can be renewed
- Contains lines that represent products or services that are sold at the specified price,
quantity, and terms
- Contains lines that can also describe the sale in some other means
- Might contain lines that contain renewal terms

| Other |
- Contract that is used for any other purpose as determined in your organization
|
