Understand the basic usage and layout of the media tree.
- The media tree is a repository for WebSphere® installation media.
- The directory structure of the media tree is organized by operating
system, hardware architecture, product, and product version.
- The media tree is made up of a set of named directories. Do not
rename directories or add directories to the media tree. If the tree
is modified, installation and patch actions will not work.
- During installation, the media tree is installed on the framework
server with other product directories.
Important: Do not
delete or move the media tree from the framework server. To support
a shared file system setup, copy the media tree and its subdirectories
to the shared file system.
- Media tree directories are empty by design.
Copy installation
images or files to media tree directories for the WebSphere products, versions, and patch
levels that you need to support.
