Accessibility and inclusivity

IBM® strives to provide products with usable access for everyone, regardless of age or ability. IBM also strives to use inclusive language in documentation.

Accessibility

Accessibility features help users who have a disability, such as restricted mobility or limited vision, to use information technology products successfully.

For example, you can operate IBM SDK, Java™ Technology Edition, Version 8 without a mouse, by using only the keyboard. You can also use a screen reader, such as JAWS for Windows, by configuring your runtime environment to use Java accessibility features such as the Oracle Java Access Bridge . For more information, see Enabling Java accessibility support.

Issues that affect accessibility are included in Known issues and limitations.

The IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8 product documentation is accessibility-enabled.

Keyboard navigation

This product uses standard Microsoft Windows navigation keys.

If you want to use keyboard navigation, see Default Swing key bindings for a description of useful keystrokes for Swing applications.

IBM and accessibility

See the IBM Human Ability and Accessibility Center for more information about the commitment that IBM has to accessibility.

Inclusivity

While IBM values the use of inclusive language, terms that are outside of IBM's direct influence are sometimes required for the sake of maintaining user understanding. As other industry leaders join IBM in embracing the use of inclusive language, IBM will continue to update the documentation to reflect those changes.
