Configuring an AS2 outbound exchange profile

An exchange profile defines the configuration that is required to exchange documents with a trading partner. It also defines how the message or document that is sent or received must be processed in B2B Advanced Communications.

Before you begin

You also can import an exchange profile as a resource from another installation of B2B Advanced Communications. For more information, see Configuring connection settings for AS2 outbound exchange profile.

About this task

When you create an AS2 outbound exchange profile you must associate a security policy with the exchange profile, specify the message exchange pattern, participating organizations, receivers, destinations, and connection settings. In an outbound exchange, your organization is the initiator of the message that is sent to the partner.
Note: When you are creating an exchange profile, you can browse to other pages or tabs of the user interface if required. The information that you have entered for the exchange profile is saved and you can complete the exchange profile configuration and deploy it at a later time. A progress bar on the Exchange Profiles collection page (Exchanges > Exchange Profiles) indicates the percentage of completion of the exchange profile. A percentage of 20 is allocated to each of the following components of the exchange profile:
  • Exchange profile name
  • Trading partner configuration
  • Trigger
  • Action
  • Deployment
When all the components are configured, the progress bar indicates 100% percent, indicating that the exchange profile configuration is complete and the exchange profile is deployed.

Procedure

  1. Click Exchanges > Exchange Profiles.
  2. On the Exchange Profiles page, click New > AS2 Outbound.
  3. In the New Exchange Profile dialog box, specify values for the following fields and click Save.
    Field Description

    Profile name

Specify a unique name for the exchange profile.

    Exchange pattern

    Select AS2 Outbound.

  4. Click Edit corresponding to the Basic Properties section, specify values for the following fields, and click Save.
Note: When configuring the exchange profile, do not assign the value Any to the following fields:
    • Document type alias
    • Receiver ID
    • Sender ID
Any is a reserved value. It is used for exchange profile look up when the any of the preceding fields do not have a user assigned value.
    Field Description

    Name

Name of the exchange profile. The name entered in the Profile name field is populated here.

    Description

Optional. Type a description for the exchange profile.

    Document type alias

Specify the alias for the document type.

Document type alias must specify the type of file that is exchanged. For example, XML, EDI, and TXT.i

  5. In the Participating Organizations section, specify values for the following fields.
    Field Description

    Owner Organization

Click Select and select the owner organization. In an outbound exchange profile, the owner organization is the sender.

    Sender ID

Optional: Click New and type a sender ID. The sender ID is the unique business identifier that is used to identify your organization. The ID can be mutually agreed on or assigned by an international code designator. For example, a DUNS ID.

    Trading Partner Organization

Click Select and select the trading partner organization. The trading partner is the receiver.

To create a new trading partner organization, click New Organization.

Alternatively, you can select Use Anonymous Partner for authentication and authorization, instead of configuring a partner organization in the system. The anonymous partner allows you to represent more than one partner through the anonymous partner mechanism. This mechanism supports many trading partners (or individual users) without needing to configure an organization (identity representation in the system), specific certificates, and exchange details for each one.

    Receiver ID

Optional: Click New and type a receiver ID. The receiver ID is the unique business identifier that is used to identify your partner. The ID can be mutually agreed on or assigned by an international code designator. For example, a DUNS ID.

  6. In the Trigger: Receive Message Data from Source section, define the trigger for the exchange.
    Field Description

    Messaging Receiver

Click Select and select the messaging receiver where the business application sends the message data. When the business application sends the message data to the specified messaging receiver, the AS2 outbound flow is triggered.

To create a new message receiver, click New Receiver.

  7. In the Action: Send AS2 Message to Trading Partner section, specify the HTTP or HTTPS destination, connection settings, security policy, and security settings for the message exchange.
    Field Description

    Select destination

Click Select and select the required HTTP or HTTPS destination (trading partner destination).

To create a new destination, click New HTTP or HTTPS destination.

When you use anonymous partner, you must include the destination URL in the business document object. The documents are delivered to the specified URL using the configuration that was specified in the exchange profile.

When you associate a destination with an anonymous partner, the destination URL is displayed as optional. If you want to use encryption for anonymous partner, you must provide an encryption certificate in the business document object as part of the Receiving Partner.

Note: These are the possible values for the encryption related properties when selecting an anonymous partner.
    • For the AES encryption algorithm, the possible key lengths are 128, 192, and 256.
    • For the DES encryption algorithm, the possible key length is 56.
    • For the DESEDE encryption algorithm, the possible key lengths are 112 and 168.
    • For the RC2 encryption algorithm, the possible key lengths are 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96, 104, 112, 120 and 128.
