AS2 exchange profile overview

An AS2 exchange profile contains the necessary information that is needed by an owner organization and a trading partner organization to facilitate the exchange of messages between them.

The necessary information includes details of the participating organizations, exchange pattern, and connection and security settings. The exchange profile also defines the trigger and action for a message exchange.

The AS2 exchange profile includes configuration that is related to message disposition notification. An MDN (synchronous or asynchronous) is sent to the trading partner based on the exchange profile configuration and also the specification in the received message.

In an AS2 exchange, a sender is an entity or partner that initiates the sending of a user message. A receiver is an entity or partner that receives the message. The message, along with any referenced payload items, is part of a message that is submitted by a sender (and subject to delivery to a receiver).
