Creating required databases and secrets without running the provided scripts

If you used the cp4a-prerequisites.sh script to generate the database SQL statement files (scripts) and YAML template files for the database secrets, then review the following requirements, but you do not need to create the databases and secrets again.

For more information about running the cp4a-prerequisites.sh script, see Recommended: Preparing databases and secrets for your chosen capabilities by running a script.

Tip: When you use the cp4a-prerequisites.sh script, you must review the requirements in the documented steps to create a database. Make sure that the databases that you create satisfy your intended workload. For deployments that need to operate continuously with no interruptions in service, set up a high availability (HA) database.

Before you install, create the required databases for IBM Business Automation Workflow, Workstream Services, or both, depending on the capabilities you are installing.

Important:

When you are configuring or provisioning your database server, make sure that the database server or service is in the same data center or cluster as your IBM Cloud Pak® for Business Automation deployment. For better performance, make sure there is little latency between the applications or containers and the database server.

External databases can be used by many of the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation components to persist data. You must provision the database instances and make sure that they are accessible from the cluster, or reuse existing database instances.

You can choose to create the databases in Db2®, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
