Installing IBM Business Automation Insights without Kubernetes

You can install IBM Business Automation Insights without a Kubernetes platform, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® or on macOS, manually or through a response file. To uninstall, you use the same command for either version. The default deployment is in production mode but you can switch to non-production mode.

Before you begin

The server on which you install IBM Business Automation Insights might be associated with multiple DNS names. Hence, if you choose to work with the Kafka services provided by IBM Business Automation Insights for a server, prepare as follows.
  1. Decide what hostname the emitters will use.
  2. Make sure that you have the Kafka hostname you chose at hand.
  3. When prompted for the external hostname of the system, enter the hostname that will be used by the event emitters to access Kafka. The hostname must be DNS resolvable. Furthermore it must not be a hostname that resolves to the loopback address (127.0.0.1). For example, localhost is not valid.
Tip: In case of If missing property errors when Business Automation Insights starts, see Patching for docker-compose 1.28 and later.
