Preparing to install the User Management Service

If you want your app users to benefit from single sign-on, you must install the User Management Service (UMS) before you install any apps that you want to use it. Before you deploy User Management Service, you must prepare your environment. These procedures include setting up databases, and storage, creating secrets, and configuring the custom resource YAML file.

Before you begin

To understand the advantages of using UMS, see User Management Service.

Not all apps are enabled to delegate authentication to the service. The following apps can be configured for UMS single sign-on:
  • IBM FileNet® Content Manager
  • IBM Automation Digital Worker
  • IBM Business Automation Studio
  • IBM Business Automation Navigator
  • IBM Automation Workstream Services
  • IBM Business Automation Content Analyzer
  • IBM Business Automation Workflow on-premises version

Keep the following points in mind:

  • You must install UMS before you install any apps that use the service.
  • When you configure an app that you want to use UMS, you must copy and paste information about the shared secret that is created when you install UMS.

About this task
