Creating and managing tasks

Create and assign tasks to yourself and members of your teams. For example, you might want to conduct a meeting, request an analysis, or ask for a secondary review. You can also link tasks to specific investigations.

About this task

Use the Tasks icon Tasks view to set search criteria to show active or completed tasks for you or a user who is assigned to a specific team. You can track which tasks are due today, overdue, or have yet to be completed. You can also search on a range of dates, or sort by values, such as the person assigned, date last updated, or person assigned. For example, sort tasks by priority to make it easier to find the tasks that are most urgent.

Members of the Investigator role or Triage role can only see tasks that are assigned to themselves. Members of the Supervisor role can see all tasks for an investigation.

Procedure

To create a task:

  1. Click Tasks icon Tasks. The Tasks pane is displayed, showing results based on defined search criteria.
  2. Click More Actions icon More Actions and select Create Task.
  3. From the Create Task window, complete required information, and then click OK. To associate a task with a specific investigation, click Link Investigation icon Link Investigation to search for specific criteria. Then select an investigation from the results to link to the task that you are creating.

When a task is linked to an investigation, the Tasks icon Tasks icon with the number of associated tasks is displayed. For example:

Results

The newly created task appears in the Tasks list for the assigned user. For example, if you created a task for yourself and defined criteria to Show - My active tasks, the task is displayed in your Tasks icon Tasks list. Click a task to view its contents and read any lengthy descriptions. You can also select a task and click More Actions icon More Actions to perform various actions:
  • Select a task to edit its contents, such as its priority level or due date.
  • Select a task to delete it. Note that you must be the owner of a task.
  • Clear all selected tasks from the list.
  • Mark a task as read to provide a visual queue (bold removed) that you reviewed its contents. Mark as unread again to make the text bold again.
  • Indicate that a task is completed. If a task was inadvertently marked as completed, mark it as incomplete to reopen it.
