Allocating disk space during Linux installation
If the disk size is 150 GB or less, you can change the default disk space allocation when you install Linux. It is significantly easier to change the disk allocation during the Linux installation on a physical machine or when you create a virtual machine.
About this task
The following procedure offers one suggested method for allocating disk space during Linux installation. Your requirements for the directories may vary.
Procedure
To allocate the required disk space:
- During the Linux installation, after you configure the root password, the Which type of installation would you like? prompt is displayed. Select the Review and modify partitioning layout option and the Replace Existing Linux System(s)option, and click Next.

- Reduce the lv_home size by 20,000 MB. In the Size (MB) field, reduce the value by 20,000 MB and click OK. For example, if the size is 53100, change the value to 33100.
- In the Please Select a Device screen, increase the lv_root size by 20,000 MB. Click lv_root and click Edit. In the Size (MB) field, increase the value by 20,000 MB and click OK.
