Using the Data Import command line tool

Use the Data Import command line tool to automate the import of data into the Counter Fraud Management system. To begin, you must create a mapping file for the data that you plan to use during the import operation. Data Import can import data from CSV files, or directly by using a JDBC connection from a remote database, such as an Oracle database.

Before you begin

The Data Import tool is a quick and effective way to load small data sets and sample data. For guidance information on determining the appropriate import method for your data, see Importing data into the IBM Counter Fraud Management system.
  • About the Data Import tool process
    Use the Data Import tool to initially load data into a production-level installation or periodically update data. You can also use this tool to import sample data for demonstration or test purposes.
  • Setting up a client to run Data Import jobs
    The ICFM installation scripts install the Data Import tool on the ICFM server (Core server in a three-server topology). However, you can set up Data Import on a separate client system.
  • Working with mapping files
    Mapping files define the mapping from the source data to the destination data. Data Import processes the mapping file, reading from the source columns, then inserting into the destination column.
  • Running a Data Import job
    The ICFM Data Import command line tool (dataimportcli.sh) provides a way to import (ETL) data. No setup is required to run this command from an ICFM server (Core server if using a three-server topology).
  • Maintaining the Data Import environment
    The Data Import tool stores records in the Counter Fraud database for each mapping that is created. The tool also stores the result status and error records each time a mapping is run.
  • Changing the JDBC schemas from which Data Import reads data
    You can change the list of JDBC schemas from which the Data Import tool reads data. The list of schemas that the tool uses for a system reference (sysRef) is defined when the sysRef is created.
