Using a VMTA in Programs
Assign a VMTA for a database or query to balance your IP addresses, and avoid setting off spam triggers within an email client.
You can use a VMTA for a query or database that you use as the contact source for your program.
Consistent sending patterns, and cadence will help make sure your messages are going to their Inbox
rather than Spam or Junk folders. A program uses the VMTA assigned. Programs supports org-level,
query-level and database-level VMTA.
- If no VMTA is assigned to the parent database or the query, the organization's default VMTA is used.
- If a VMTA is specified at the query level and that query is the contact source for the program, all emails sent from the program will use the query level VMTA.
- If a query is the contact source of the program, and a VMTA is not specified at the query level, but is specified for the parent database, the program mailings are sent from the VMTA specified at the database level.
- All emails in the program use the VMTA that is assigned at the time the email is sent.
If the VMTA assignment is changed on an existing program, the program will automatically update the sends to use the new VMTA after midnight, for the next day's sends.
