Using InfoSphere QualityStage for standardization

IBM® InfoSphere® QualityStage provides a very flexible, rule-based framework for standardization, and can be used as the standardizer in InfoSphere MDM.

Geographical information for the data can be specified in InfoSphere QualityStage jobs by using InfoSphere QualityStage Designer so that at design time, a designer can create a rule to standardize U.S. addresses a particular way, and another rule to standardize Canadian addresses in a different way. Similar flexibility is available for standardizing names.

The default shipped InfoSphere QualityStage address standardization job is a Multi National Standardization (MNS) job. This means that the country information must be supplied to InfoSphere QualityStage job in order to apply the country-specific rules when it standardizes the data. However, if you want to design locale-specific jobs, InfoSphere MDM has provided the configuration option and interface which allow you to call specific rules that you have created.

InfoSphere MDM can also use the InfoSphere QualityStage standardizer to generate keys for phonetic party searches. For more information about configuring InfoSphere QualityStage to work with phonetic searches, see Phonetic search configuration.
