Models in the service management profile

The service management profile models provide the entities that you need to define services in your SOA environment, and manage those services from initial specification through to deployment in production. For each type of entity, the models define the properties specific to that entity type, and the relationships with other types of entity.

The service management profile models are described in the following subtopics:

Governance enablement model
The Governance enablement model provides the entities, together with relationships and properties defined on those entities, to enable an SOA Governance solution within your enterprise. Business users can identify capabilities that are required by the organization. Development users, in conjunction with SOA Governance and Operations users, can collaborate and define the contracts between departments by defining documents of understanding (DOUs), service level agreements and service level definitions. These defined entities can eventually be hooked into implementation entities when the original business capabilities are realized into runnable services and represented in the profile.
Service model
The service model provides entities that represent the derived entities that are created when WSDL, XSD, SCA module, and MQ artifacts are loaded. WSRR provides a modifier that automatically creates service model entities and correlates them with their corresponding derived entities. You can also create service model entities manually, before the corresponding WSDL, XSD, SCA module, or MQ artifacts have been defined, and WSRR will carry out the required correlation when these artifacts are eventually defined and loaded.
Manual endpoint model
The manual endpoint model allows you to create instances of different types of manual endpoint, where the location of the service representing the endpoint, can be specified as a URI. Also a WSDLPortType can be associated with the endpoint to describe the interface that the endpoint supports.. These objects will not be correlated at any stage.
Governance enablement profile extensions
The governance enablement profile extensions provide entities that extend the service level agreement (SLA) and service level definition (SLD) entities defined in the governance enablement model. These extensions are examples of the suggested approach to extend the default SLA and SLD entities provided in the governance enablement profile.
Advanced Lifecycle Edition model
The Advanced Lifecycle Edition model provides the core entities that are represented in Rational® Asset Manager; these are Asset and Organization. An asset represents an entity that can be synchronized between Rational Asset Manager and WSRR. Therefore, those entities that are subclasses of Asset, including those in the governance enablement model, can be synchronized between Rational Asset Manager and WSRR.
REST model
The REST model provides entities to represent interactions with REST resources.
