Editing the View menu settings

Use the View Menu Display Settings pane of the Display Settings window to edit the View menu in the Collection widget.

You can add new items and change the order of existing items of the View menu. Click the name of an existing menu item to edit it, or click Add menu item to add a new item to the View menu. Adding a new item opens the Menu Items Settings window; see Adding an item to the View menu. To reorder an item, click the up arrow next to it if you want to move that item a level up, or the down arrow next to the item if you want to move it a level down. You can also drag the items to change the order in which they are displayed.

Existing menu items can be made visible or invisible using this pane. Select the Visible check box next to a menu item if you want the menu item to be displayed in the View menu in the Collection widget. Select the Description check box next to a menu item if you want the description for that item to be displayed in the Collection widget when the menu item is selected.

You can control the display of columns in the Collection widget (when you display each individual menu item). You can specify the following features:
  • For each view, you can configure the properties that will be displayed in the collection widget columns when that view is selected.
  • You configure the columns in the table to specify the properties to be displayed. You can also delete columns from the table and add extra columns to the table.
  • You can set the order of displayed properties by using the left and right arrows in the table.
  • For each view, you can set the property that it will be sorted on, and switch between ascending and descending, by selecting the sort indicator next to that property.
Note: The list of views and most of the settings for each view are global settings. The only setting that is instance-specific is the visibility. All instances of the widget have access to the same list of views, but you can decide which views are made available to the end user in each instance of the widget.
My Recent Items, All My Items, and All Recent Items have the following characteristics:
  • They search for the objects that have been configured in the search widget in your dashboard.
  • The My Recent Items and All Recent Items search returns the items that were changed within the last seven days.
  • The All My Items search returns all items in the registry that you own.
