Generating Smart Report

You can generate Smart Report from Rational Asset Manager web client. This report enables you to analyze cumulative efforts spent on asset utilization at all levels from the first time asset submission to be reused by different users in an asset life cycle.

The Smart Report option is listed under Reports list of Repository Statistics section on the Administration page.

You can generate three levels of report namely - Community-level, Asset Type-level and Asset-level reports, respectively. The Asset Effort Analysis Report page provides these options to choose and generate the respective report.

  1. Log in to the Rational Asset Manager web client.
  2. From the menu option, click Administration.
    The Administration page is displayed.
  3. Under the Reports section, click Smart Report. The Assets Effort Analysis Report page is displayed. By default, the Community-level report is illustrated on this page.
  4. Select a report-level type to generate a report.
    The respective report is generated and illustrated on the page.

    Viewing and analyzing the report

    The Assets Effort Analysis Report generates a bar graph, where the X-axis indicates the Estimated Effort scale and Y-axis indicates the respective report-level type.

    In the graph, estimated effort and actual effort are displayed in two adjacently placed color shaded bar. This will help you distinguish and analyze these two efforts attribute metrics. You can hover the mouse pointer on a specific shaded area of the bar to view a tool tip displaying the following information:
    • Name - Name of the Asset or Asset Type or Communities.
    • Estimated Efforts - Total cumulative initial efforts saved by all the users reusing an asset instead of creating newly.
    • Actual Efforts - Total cumulative saved efforts calculated on the basis of number of hours entered for each asset.
    • Total Assets - Number of assets associated to a particular Community or Asset Type. This data is displayed only in the Community Level Report and Asset Type Level report.
    • Total Feedbacks - Number of users who have actually entered saved efforts data for assets.
    • Percentage Effort Saved - Percentage of efforts saved by reusing assets.

    Additionally, the Summary section with total number of the report level type and the efforts saved percentage is displayed. For example, if you generate community level report, the Summary displays total number of communities of which the Assets are reused and its efforts saved metrics in percentage.

    In the Community Level report and Asset Type Level reports, you can click on the graph bar to view the Asset level report of the respective Community or Asset Type.
