Integrating with IBM Lotus Connections

You can connect a IBM® Rational® Asset Manager server to a Lotus Connections server. Currently, you will be able to view a Lotus Connections business card in the Rational Asset Manager Web interface.

Configuration: Connect Rational Asset Manager to a Lotus Connection server

To connect to a Lotus Connections server:
  1. Log in to Rational Asset Manager server as a repository administrator.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. In the Repository Administration sidebar, click Configuration.
  4. In the IBM Lotus Connections Path section, type the following information about the Lotus Connections server:
    • Path: The root URL of the Lotus Connections server. For example, if you access the Profiles page in Lotus Connections at https://example.com/connections/profiles, type https://example.com/connections.
    • User: The username to log into the Lotus Connections server.
    • Password: The password for the above user.
  5. Click Save.

View the Lotus Connections business card of a user

After you have entered the information for the Lotus Connections server, in either the Rational Asset Manager web client or the Eclipse client, next to any username (for example, the Owners on the general details page for an asset) you can hover the mouse cursor over the Lotus Connections icon (Lotus Connections icon), then click Click here to view business card. The Lotus Connections business card for that user will appear.

View assets that you have to review in Lotus Connections

After you have entered the information for the Lotus Connections server, if an asset has collaborators who need to review the asset, there will be a To Do item in Lotus Connections for every collaborator. The To Do will be completed automatically when the collaborator votes on the asset. Also, an Activity for the asset will be created in Lotus Connections. After all collaborators have voted on the asset, the activity will be marked as complete.

Place a widget in a Lotus Connections community

After you have entered the information for the Lotus Connections server, in the Rational Asset Manager Web client, you can add a widget to the content palette in a Lotus Connections community. For more information, see Adding an iWidget with asset search results to an IBM Lotus Connections community.
