Exporting Engineering Insights views and custom artifact elements

You can export views and custom artifact elements to use them in other IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Engineering Insights (ENI) projects or on other servers.

About this task

You can export views and custom artifact elements as .zip files. The .zip packages can be combined into content packages and deployed to other projects or on other servers.
  • Views packages contain the XML files for the views, a text file that describes the content type and the time of the export.
  • Custom artifact elements packages contain .TTL files, a text file that describes the content type and the time of the export.

To learn more on exporting and importing views, see the Exporting and importing views video.

Exporting views

Procedure

  1. From the menu, go to Views > My views or Shared views folder. Select the views that you want to export.
If your views are organized in folders, the structure is preserved if you import the views package in another ENI project or on other servers.
Note: The Select all views option is added for the list of views in the My views and Shared views pages. You can use the Select all views option to perform required action for all the views at a time.
  2. Click the Export icon: Export icon.
Screen capture that shows several views that are selected and the location of the export icon
  3. Save the .zip file.
The selected views are saved to a .zip file. For views that are created by using the custom artifact elements, the custom artifact elements and the enumerations that are used are also saved along with views to the .zip file. The naming convention of the .zip file is <number of files in the package> <content type> <time stamp> <ISO 8601 time stamp>. For example, the package that is created on 9 March 2015 is named as 3_views_2015-03-09T18_56_32Z.zip.
Important: When you export a view, the associated style is also exported along with the view.
