Remote target apply

With a remote target apply configuration, CDC Replication can apply transactions to a target database that resides on a different server from where CDC Replication is deployed.

This type of configuration can address performance issues if the CPU on your target database server is overloaded and is unable to accommodate the additional CPU resources that CDC Replication requires. Remote target apply improves performance by moving the processing to a different server.

This type of n-tier configuration may be used to resolve a Target Engine or Target Database bottleneck and is available when using the following replication engines:

• CDC Replication Engine for Oracle databases
• CDC Replication Engine for Db2® Database
• CDC Replication Engine for Microsoft SQL Server
