Before you begin migrating from IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack 4.2 to IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack 4.3, ensure
that your environment meets the prerequisites.
Before you begin
Ensure that the following assumptions are true:
Procedure
- The cloud environment is installed by the IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack 4.2 deployment
server, by using Chef cookbooks
and one of the following commands.
knife os manage deploy topology your-topology-file.json
knife os manage deploy cloud your-cloud.yml
The knife os manage deploy cloud your-cloud.yml command
generates the environment and topology files that are stored in the
same directory as your cloud file your-cloud.yml.
The environment and topology files are used by the migration process.
Note: The
deployment method that is described here must be used for a cloud
environment that includes IBM Platform
Resource Scheduler, PowerVC driver, z/VM® driver, self-service
portal, and so on.
- The Chef server
that is installed by the IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack deployer on
the deployment server must be used only to install OpenStack. The Chef server cannot
be used to run users cookbooks for any purpose. Additionally, you
must not change the environment or runlist that is assigned to any
node.
- Ensure that any instances that you currently have in draft
state in IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack self-service
portal, version 4.2, are launched or deleted before you upgrade to IBM Cloud
Manager with OpenStack 4.3. Any
instances in draft state are not recognized by the new IBM Cloud
Manager - Self Service in
version 4.3.
