Central Logging Server dashboard reference
The Central Logging Server default dashboards provide several features and options for viewing logs.
- Time Range
- Located on the top right of the dashboard, this element is uses to select the time interval for the logs that you want to view.
- Reload
- Refresh the page with the latest data.
- Home
- Returns to the default dashboard.
- Load
- Loads existing dashboards from a file. The Advanced option allows
you to do the following actions:
- Load from an existing file.
- Load a dashboard from a Gist URL or Number.
- Save
- Saves the current dashboard (after modifications). The Advanced
options allow you to complete the following tasks:
- Save dashboard as the Home dashboard.
- Reset the Home dashboard.
- Export the dashboard schema to be loaded later.
- Share
- Allows the user to share the sashboard using a URL.
- Configure
- Allows you to configure the dashboard and add or modify various dashboard components.
Query
- Query Bar
- Allows you to perform all the searches using the Lucene Syntax.
- You can pin, or bookmark, the results of a query by clicking the colored circles before the query string.
- Use the search (magnifying glass) icon to access the search operation.
- Add a search string with the + icon.
Filtering
- Filters
- Various filters can be added to the search results by clicking the + button in the Filtering section. You can create a new filter by selecting a time-range from the (top right) drop-down menu, or by clicking and dragging a time range on the chart area.
- Inspect
- Gives a JSON format of the data that is used to render the user interface element for the Last Elasticsearch Query that was run.
- Copy
- Create a copy of the existing panel.
- Configure
- Find various options for configuring the panel.
- Move
- Modify the dashboard layout by moving the panel location.
- Remove
- Delete a panel if unneeded.
- Chart Area
- A dynamic user interface element that is refreshed according to the auto-refresh setting. You can click and drag an area of the chart to select a particular time-range. This action creates a filter and shows the logs only in that particular time-range.
- Logs Table
- This is a dynamic table that shows only the logs for a selected time-interval. The interval is selected in the chart area or created in the filters area. You can add or remove the columns that interest you.
