Configuring floating licenses for Windows servers
These steps are required to configure floating and named-user
floating license keys.
About this task
Table 1 provides a list of steps that are required to configure floating and named-user floating licenses keys.
| Task | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Configure floating licenses |
|
| Configure redundant license servers | See Configuring redundant license servers on Windows. |
| Specify the IBM Common Licensing on a web server | See Specifying the license server on Windows web servers. |
| Assign port to the lmgrd and vendor daemons | See Assigning port values for the license server. |
| (Optional) Use License Key Administrator (LKAD) commands for configuring license servers on clients |
See Using the LKAD command line on Windows (Optional). |
| Change the order that the IBM Rational products use licenses | You cannot use the license server to change the license usage order for all clients. To change the license usage order, each user must go into the License Usage Mapper in the client LKAD or the Manage Licenses wizard for products that are built on the Eclipse platform. The Manage Licenses wizard is in the IBM Installation Manager. The license usage order is tied to the user_ID. |
| Modify the time-out period | Set the TIMEOUT value in the options file, see Options file commands. |
| Upgrading the IBM Common Licensing | You can upgrade the IBM Common Licensing to the current version. Do not use different versions of the license server on the same computer. |
| Using multiple license servers on the same server | Use a separate lmgrd instance for each vendor daemon and keep license keys in separate files. |
