Planning for SAP HANA
SAP HANA High Availability feature is supported for the following configurations:
- SAP HANA Version 2.0
- Two node cluster deployment
Review the following information before you configure Smart Assist for SAP HANA:
- You must install the SAP HANA database before configuring resources by using the Smart Assist application.
- The user-defined resources such as Persistent IP can be deleted after configuring the Smart Assist policies.
- You must configure the NFS tiebreaker by using the clmgr command.
Prerequisites
Consider the following SAP HANA prerequisites for the System Replication scenario having data preload:
- The SAP HANA software version of the secondary system must be equal to the primary system.
- The secondary system must have the same SAP system ID (SID) and same instance number as the primary system.
- System replication between two systems on the same host is not supported.
- System Replication must be set up before configuring the Smart Assist application by using the clmgr command.
- The required ports must be available. The same <instance number> is used for the primary and secondary systems. The <instance number>+1 must be free on both systems because this port range is used for system replication communication.
- An initial data backup or snapshot must be performed on the primary system before you activate the system replication.
- The SAP HANA database must be in an offline state before the Smart Assist policy is activated. Otherwise, the database stops if the Smart Assist policy is activated.
- You must ensure that the IP address that is used for the service IP label is deactivated, if it was manually added for testing, before you activate the new Smart Assist policy.
