Installing and running the Network Manager database scripts

After a supported database has been installed, you must install and run the database scripts to configure the topology database for use by Network Manager. You must run the scripts before installing Network Manager.

If you downloaded the compressed software package from Passport Advantage®, as described in Installing IBM Installation Manager by downloading the product files, the database creation scripts are included at the top level of the uncompressed software file. Copy the scripts to the database server and use them.

Otherwise, install the Network Manager topology database creation scripts by completing the following tasks.

  1. Start IBM Installation Manager:
    1. Change to the directory where IBM Installation Manager is installed.
    2. Run the following command:
      ./IBMIM
IBM Installation Manager starts in wizard mode. To use command line, silent, console, or web browser mode, refer to the information on Managing installations with Installation Manager in the IBM Installation Manager documentation at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSDV2W/im_family_welcome.html. Not all products and components support all installation modes.
  2. Click Install.
  3. On the Install Packages screen where you can select packages to install, select the latest available version of the Network Manager topology database creation scripts.
  4. Click Next, agree to the terms in the license agreement, and click Next again.
  5. Select the IBM Netcool Core Server package group and click Next.
  6. On the Install Packages screen where you can select features to install, select the appropriate scripts for your database type.
  7. Click Next and Install.
The appropriate database scripts are now installed by default in the precision/scripts/ directory in the installation directory (by default, /opt/IBM®/netcool/core/precision/scripts/). For convenience, a compressed file containing the same database scripts is also created in the installation directory. If you installed the scripts on a different server to the database server, copy the compressed file to the database server and uncompress it to use the database scripts. Use the information in the following sections to configure the topology database using the scripts.
