Content Manager Enterprise Edition connectors provide access to other content repositories in your Content Manager Enterprise Edition system.

Connectors provide the communications interface between Content Manager Enterprise Edition clients and the content servers. The Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8 connector allows Content Manager Enterprise Edition to log in to the server, search for information, and return the information to the clients. The connector provides APIs to enable users to develop applications that work with a specific repository. Each of the content repositories have different capabilities and features sets that are accessed through each respective connector.

For custom applications that access the IBM® Content Manager server, you can opt to deploy the Java original equipment manufacturer (OEM) API toolkit instead of installing the Content Manager Enterprise Edition V8 connector.

Limitation: The Content Manager Enterprise Edition APIs (connector and SDK) running on z/OS® and accessing a remote Oracle library server is not supported.
Content Manager Enterprise Edition provides a connector toolkit that includes sample programs you can use to experiment with and test various Content Manager Enterprise Edition functions, such as:
  • Connecting to and disconnecting from content servers
  • Performing SQL and other sample queries on content servers
  • Determining content server MIME types, and so forth
