User configuration and control parameters

Configuration and control parameters are available from the User Session Options panel.

See Table 1 for the available control parameters and descriptions.

Table 1. Configuration and control parameters
Parameter Description
zDMF Command Prefix The command prefix value that is used to identity the zDMF subsystem and communicate with the zDMF service task. This value must match the prefix (CPFX=) specified at run time in the execution parameters.
Group Definition Data Set When initially created, group definitions and all their corresponding configuration information are stored in the Group Definition Data Set or PDS. After a group definition is promoted, it is transferred to the zDMF database and the original member remains.

Enter a fully qualified PDS name in standard TSO format. Automatic compression of the PDS occurs when a group configuration or member is deleted. If the specified data set does not exist, you are prompted for space allocation.

This definition might be specified in multiple user configurations on the same LPAR or other LPARs, assuming the data set is available on other LPARs.

Attention: Multiple users that specify the same data set imply that the data set might be reserved by one user and lock out another.
Use Log Data Set A value of Y enables the logging feature. When logging is enabled, the specified PDS is created and each day’s worth of data is stored as a PDS member.

If logging is enabled, specify a log data set name.

Use Browse or View Enter B to browse or V to view log output (when logging is enabled).
Log Data Set Name Enter your log PDS name in standard TSO format. You must specify a fully qualified data set name.
Message with Local or GMT time Enter G to record zDMF system and command messages in GMT time, or Lfor local time. This setting overrides the installation configuration.
Show Command Messages If set to Y (Yes), detailed command information displays when a group line command is issued on the Interact with Promoted Groups panel. This information is useful for diagnostic purposes.
Note: This option can also be set from the Options panel of the Interact with Promoted Groups panel.
Show Command Diagnostic Info If set to Y (Yes), detailed diagnostic information displays when an error is encountered on a group line command. This information is useful for diagnostic purposes.
Note: This option can also be set from the Options panel of the Interact with Promoted Groups panel.
Create ICKDSF TRKFMT Statements This option is used to set the default that is used by the generate cleanup JCL. If set to Y (Yes), when generating cleanup JCL, it includes ICKDSF TRKFMT statements to erase tracks for all extents of source data sets. For more information on the cleanup JCL, refer to the Zcommand in Table 1.
Attention: Setting this option to Y (Yes) generates long running ICKDSF track formatting jobs.
Early Data Set Completion This option causes zDMF to divert any data sets in the group that are not currently allocated, immediately after the group enters the Mirror state.
  • Enter Y if data set (SYSDSN) ENQs is converted to Global resource requests that are broadcast to all LPARs that participate in zDMF migrations.
  • Enter N if the participating systems are spread across multiple sysplexes.
Note: The option that is specified here becomes the default when a group is created.
zDMF Load Library Enter the installed zDMF load library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.
zDMF REXX Library Enter the installed zDMF REXX library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.
zDMF Panel Library Enter the installed zDMF panel library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.
zDMF Table Library Enter the installed zDMF table library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.
zDMF Message Library Enter the installed zDMF message library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.
zDMF Security Library Enter the installed zDMF security library data set name. The name is verified and must be a fully qualified data set.

If one of the critical data sets is changed to a new data set (as detected during the SAVE process), a message displays to close and restart the TSO monitor. This message appears only after it is verified that data sets are cataloged and that no error is present in the user settings.
