Use the VERIFY line command to validate
a group definition’s configuration parameters and syntax.
About this task
Notes:
You must have UPDATE, ALTER, or CONTROL authority, or the security
must be inactive (SAF Not Active, or No Security) for you to be able
to complete the following functions: Promote, Verify,
and Restore. If not, the following message is displayed: This
user does not have the required authority for the zDMF server database.
You may proceed with limited functionality. For full functionality,
you must change your security setting to be able to update this data
set.
Group definitions that were not promoted are identified by ZD,
prefixed to the member name.
Procedure
Complete the following steps to verify a group definition
that was not promoted.
On the Manage Group Members panel,
enter V next to the group definition that you
want to verify and press Enter.
The group definition
is then parsed and checked for syntax and configuration errors. If
an inconsistency is found, a syntax error message is displayed and
the error is marked. See Figure 1. Figure 1. Verifying
a group definition
Results
The generated control card shows that each pair is defined
with a SET statement, which defines the options for all data sets
in that pair. You can enter more than one SET of data sets in a group
after you enter the first SET. A SET or group/pair is defined as a
source and target data set name - or mask pair - with the same options
and volumes.
Note: You cannot verify a group if you
specified an invalid class. The following message is displayed: GZD3140E
Group definition error: Storage class not active.
