How to convert hardware reserves

To accomplish reserve conversion, you can use IBM’s Global Resource Serialization (GRS) or Computer Associates Multiple Image Manager (MIM).

When converting Hardware Reserves, make sure to include the following entries in the GRSRNLxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB to ensure that any Reserves issued against the VTOCs or VSAM Data Sets involved in a migration are converted to Global Enqueues:
