Unlocking a message

A message is automatically locked when you select the action Open from the pop-up menu in the message list, and unlocked when you close it by executing an action or by using the Quit button. While the message is locked, no other user can open it or perform an action on it. It is possible that a lock remains dangling, for example if the browser session times out or when you close the browser while a message is still open. In the message list, a message for which you hold a dangling lock is marked with the icon showing a blue circle icon in the Flag column. You can either process the message yourself, or you should release the dangling lock so that another user can process the message. To release a dangling lock, select the action Unlock from the pop-up menu in the message list.

A message that is locked by another user is marked with the icon showing a red bar icon in the Flag column. The hover help for the symbol indicates which user holds the lock. If you believe that it is a dangling lock that should be released, you can ask that user to unlock the message. If the user is not available, you can ask an administrator to break the lock instead.
