Services provided by FTM SWIFT

The services provided by FTM SWIFT are listed in Table 1, and described in the following sections.
Table 1. Services provided by FTM SWIFT
Type Name Description
Event recording and administration Event Stores and publishes events. See Event service.
Exception conversion Converts exceptions to events. See Exception conversion service.
Event administration Used to list or delete events. See Event administration service.
Event monitoring Monitor Used by an operator to monitor events. See Event monitoring.
Event notification Writes events to system console. See Event monitoring.
Time-based processing
Note: The services provided for time-based processing are deprecated and contained for compatibility reasons only.
Timer After the specified time elapses, sends a message to another service. See Timer service.
Timer input After the specified time elapses, sends a message to the next node in the message flow. See Timer Input service.
Auditing Message Audit Records audit data for messages. See Auditing.
Accounting Accounting Preparation Prepares accounting data. See Accounting.
Accounting data gatherer Collects accounting data. See Accounting.
Accounting data administration Administers accounting data. See Accounting.
Import templates Template import Imports message templates. See Template import.
Message storage Message warehouse insert Inserts messages into the message warehouse database. See Message warehouse.
Message warehouse update Updates messages in the message warehouse database. See Message warehouse.
System administration Configuration Used to specify configuration data, and to add such data to messages. See Configuration services.
Security Used to administer security entities (roles, role groups, and users) and to check security assignments. See Security services.
SAG administration SAG configuration Used to configure SAG workstations. See SAG administration.
SAG operation Used to operate SAG workstations. See SAG administration.
SAG clustering Used when setting up SAGs, and to arrange for several SAGs to share a common workload. See SAG administration.
Note: Although the SAG clustering service is not implemented using IBM® Integration Bus message flows or nodes, the resources it uses, for example, the interface queues and input queue of each SAG cluster, are customized and maintained using FTM SWIFT. Therefore, it is an FTM SWIFT service.
FIN message transfer and LT session operation SIPN FIN Used to send individual messages to, and receive them from, the SIPN. See SWIFTNet FIN message transfer and session operation.
FMT FIN Used to send individual messages to, and receive them from, other LTs, bypassing the SIPN. See SWIFTNet FIN message transfer and session operation.
SIPN FIN LT session operation Used to operate SWIFTNet FIN LT sessions. See SIPN FIN LT session operation.
FMT FIN session operation Used to operate FMT FIN sessions. See FMT FIN session operation.
Authorisation administration Used to administer relationship management (RM) authorisations. See Authorisation administration.
Signature verification Signature verification Used to verify the authenticity of the PKI signatures of received messages. See Signature verification.
Message printing Message Printing Used to send messages to a printer or to another output medium such as a file. See Message printing.
Message validation and transformation Message Standards Used to validate and transform messages. See Message standards.
Message management Message Management Used by MER routing flows to route messages to and from queues, and by other routing flows to influence message processing. See FTM SWIFT routing nodes.
MER queue-depth notification Generates event messages that notify users when the numbers of messages in MER queues reach or exceed specified thresholds. See MER queue-depth notification service.
Business message and file transfer MSIF transfer Used by applications to send and receive business messages and files via the SIPN. See Business message transfer, file transfer, and SnF session operation.
MSIF command Used to do such things as:
  • Cancel a message or file transfer
  • Recover a file transfer that encountered a recoverable error
  • Start or stop the MSIF transfer service for an OU
  • Operate and monitor SnF sessions
See Business message transfer, file transfer, and SnF session operation.

FTM SWIFT provides services to process business messages as shown in Figure 1. The services used to process administration, operation, configuration, and session control commands are shown in Figure 2.

These services use other FTM SWIFT services, for example, to record audit data or to handle events, configuration, access control, monitoring, and message storage.
