Configuring access to data

In Maximo® Monitor 8.10 and later, as an administrator, you can use the access control APIs to add or delete resources and users from security groups. Resources are types of data, such as organization data, site data, or asset data. If a user cannot access specific data, they also cannot access dashboards that contain that data.

When a user logs in to Maximo Monitor or opens the IoT tool, a request is sent to the access control API. That request retrieves the resources that the user has permissions to access. During that session, the API is not called again, and the user can access only the resources that were retrieved when they logged in. If a user cannot access all resources that are in an organization, they cannot access any hierarchies for that organization.
