Importing metadata (IBM Knowledge Catalog)

You can capture and import technical metadata and lineage information for the data in your organization. This data can be on a wide variety of data sources.

When you import metadata, you have the following options:

• Import asset metadata only. Only IBM Knowledge Catalog must be installed. For more information, see Importing asset metadata.
• Import both asset metadata and lineage metadata if the MANTA Automated Data Lineage service is installed. You can view technical lineage on MANTA Automated Data Lineage. This version is available in previous IBM Cloud Pak for Data releases. For more information, see Importing metadata with MANTA Automated Data Lineage.
• Import both asset metadata and lineage metadata if the IBM Manta Data Lineage service is installed. You can view an enhanced lineage graph on a separate Data lineage tab in IBM Cloud Pak for Data. This version is introduced in 5.1. For more information, see Importing metadata with IBM Manta Data Lineage.
