Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services connection
To access your data in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, you must create a connection asset for it first.
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) provides a set of tools that you can use to create and manage business intelligence reports.
Supported versions
-
Microsoft SQL Server 2010 Reporting Services or later
Only paginated reports are supported.
Create a connection to Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
To create the connection asset, you need these connection details:
- Hostname or IP address
- Name of the database where the reports are stored
- Port number
- If the Microsoft SQL Server has been set up in a domain that uses the NTLM (New Technology LAN Manager) authentication, select Use Active Directory. Then, enter the name of the domain that is associated with the username and password
- If required by the database server, the SSL certificate
- Username and password for accessing the database
For Credentials and Certificates, you can use secrets if a vault is configured for the platform and the service supports vaults. For information, see Using secrets from vaults in connections.
Choose the method for creating a connection based on where you are in the platform
- In a project
- Click Assets > New asset > Data access tools > Connection. See Adding a connection to a project.
- In a catalog
- Click Add to catalog > Connection. See Adding a connection asset to a catalog.
- In the Platform assets catalog
- Click New connection. For more information, see Adding platform connections.
Next step: Add assets from the connection
- To add assets to a catalog, in a project, create and run a metadata import with the Import BI report or the Get BI report lineage goal. For more information, see Importing business intelligence reports and Getting lineage for business intelligence reports.
