Oracle (optimized) connection

To access your data with the Oracle (optimized) connection, create a connection asset for it. This connection works with the DataStage Oracle (optimized) connector, which has exclusive features for DataStage.

Oracle is a multi-model database management system.

Supported versions

  • Oracle 23c
  • Oracle 21c
  • Oracle 19c
  • Oracle 18c
  • Oracle 12.2.0 and 12.1.0
  • Oracle 11.2.0

Create a connection to Oracle with the Oracle (optimized) connection

To create the connection asset, you need these connection details:

  • Hostname or IP address: For TCP or TCPS connection protocols
  • Port number: For TCP or TCPS connection protocols
  • Service name or Database (SID)

Connection protocol

  • LDAP
  • TCP
  • TCPS

The LDAP and the TCPS connection protocols require configuration steps on the Cloud Pak for Data server. For instructions, see Connecting to Oracle data sources with LDAP and TCPS authentication.

Credentials

  • Username and password

For Credentials, you can use secrets if a vault is configured for the platform and the service supports vaults. For information, see Using secrets from vaults in connections.

Choose the method for creating a connection based on where you are in the platform

In a project
Click Assets > New asset > Data access tools > Connection. See Adding a connection to a project.
In a deployment space
Click Add to space > Connection. See Adding connections to a deployment space.
In the Platform assets catalog
Click New connection. See Adding platform connections.
