Adding assets to a catalog (Watson Knowledge Catalog)
You can add assets to a catalog to share them with other catalog collaborators. Assets can contain up to 5000 columns, can contain duplicate names, and can be added to a catalog multiple times.
- Required permissions
- You must have the Editor or Admin role in the catalog to add assets to it.
To add an asset to a catalog, click Add to catalog on the catalog Browse page, import metadata, or publish assets from a project:
- Add a data file
- Add a connection
- Add data from a connection
- Add a connected folder asset from a connection
- Add a COBOL copybook asset
- Import metadata
- Import lineage relationship mapping
- Add and update multiple assets from a file

Add and update assets from a file
To add and update assets in bulk:
- Create a CSV file. The first row of the CSV file should contain headers that match the asset schema. Assets and properties should be listed in the following rows.
- In a catalog, click the Add to Catalog dropdown and select Metadata import from file.
- Browse for the CSV file or drag it onto the drop area.
- Click Add. Any conflicting properties are handled by the catalog's default Duplicate handling method method.
Custom asset types, properties, and relationships
To add a custom asset to a catalog:
- In a catalog, click the Add to catalog dropdown and select Custom asset.
- Assign a name and specificy the custom asset type.
- Click Create.
