Installing Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data

A Cloud Pak for Data administrator can install Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak® for Data on a different Linux® system than the Cloud Pak for Data cluster.

About this task

Installation location
You can't install Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data on a Red Hat® OpenShift® node. You must install Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data on a Linux system that meets these installation requirements.
Required role
You must be a Cloud Pak for Data cluster administrator and have root access on the Linux system where you will install Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data community page and follow instructions on how to purchase Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
  2. From Passport Advantage, download the product files, including the readme file, which contains the license key.
  3. Follow the instructions in the readme file and the standard Anaconda Team Edition installation instructions.
    Important: Take note of the administrator credentials and the link to access Anaconda Team Edition that are printed to the screen during installation.
  4. Ensure that the ports on the node where you installed Anaconda Team Edition are secure. See Security requirements.
  5. Verify that the installation completed correctly. See Manual verification of installation.
  6. Start Anaconda Team Edition with the administrator credentials that were generated during installation.
  7. When prompted, provide the license key from the readme file.

What to do next

You can now create conda channels, mirror packages, and complete administrative tasks in Anaconda Team Edition. See Using Anaconda Team Edition.

As a Cloud Pak for Data cluster administrator, you update the conda configuration file for the Cloud Pak for Data cluster to make the conda channel available in Watson Studio. See Customizing conda for Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.

Data scientists can add packages from the Anaconda repository when they create custom environment definitions. See Customizing an environment (Anaconda Repository for IBM Cloud Pak for Data).
