Deploying edge applications with Edge Analytics by using Cloud Pak for Data

You can deploy edge applications to one or more edge systems by using the Edge analytics page in the Cloud Pak for Data web user interface.

Before you begin

Package your edge application image. For more information, see Packaging an Edge Analytics application or service for deployment.

About this task

The edge application is deployed to the edge systems that you selected. The application is registered as a Linux system service on each edge system, so the application will automatically recover from system restarts.

Procedure

  1. Locate the edge application that you want to deploy:
    1. From the Cloud Pak for Data web user interface navigation menu, click Administration > Edge analytics.
    2. Click the Analytics apps tab.
  2. From the options menu for the application that you want to deploy, click Deploy to edge.
  3. Select one or more remote edge systems where you want to deploy the application, and click Deploy.

Results

The edge application is deployed and running on the edge systems that you selected.

What to do next

You can view the status of the edge application on the Edge analytics page in the web user interface. You can also closely monitor or collect logs or metrics from the running edge application. For more information, see Monitoring edge applications.
