Overview
To quiesce and swap an EMC volume that is not only part of an EMC Consistency Group, but also active in an EMC AutoSwap environment, extra considerations must be taken. You must also use an extra parameter.
Before you begin
With the EMC AutoSwap enhancement to TDMF, and the corresponding EMC AutoSwap feature available and active, the duration of the AutoSwap outage is reduced. It is reduced to the length of time that is required to quiesce, synchronize, and swap the migration volumes. Basically, no external EMC commands are required: the Disable and Enable commands are now automatically created by TDMF.
Unlike GDPS/PPRC in an IBM environment, this support allows the swap migration of multiple EMC volumes that are part of a single EMC Consistency Group. It also allows multiple volumes within multiple EMC Consistency Groups (by name). Use a single TDMF GROUP statement to minimize the time.
