System defaults

Use this list of system parameters with their options and default values to help you configure TDMF.

Table 1. TDMF system defaults and options
Parameter Function Options Default
PARM=

(on the EXEC PGM= statement)

NEW specifies that this is the first time the GTDSOPTN batch job is being run. Selection of this value rewrites the entire key record.

UPDATE specifies that an entry is being updated; for details, refer to Updating system defaults with the GTDSOPTN batch job.

NEW UPDATE No default
TDMF VERSION Must be the first non-comment entry. Specifies what version of TDMF is being run. 1, 2, 4, 5 Must be specified
KEYxx= Authorization keys, provided by IBM, in order for TDMF to run.

Additionally, starting in column 38, description of what key is related to, for example, CPU, might be specified (up to 20 characters).

The 16-digit key that is provided by IBM.
Note: When you initially request your authorization keys by using the TDMF Technical Support page, IBM sends you an email with the relevant authorization keys, and the key installation instructions.
Must be specified
CORPORATION = Customer Corporation name. Used in Monitor display and sysout listings. Up to 64 characters allowed. Customer name Corporation name must be specified
SITE NAME = Local customer site name. Up to 64 characters allowed. Site Name Site name must be specified
SITE NUMBER = The 5-digit customer number. Used in Monitor display and sysout listing. Site Number Site number must be specified
SYSCOM HISTORY DATASET NAME = Record all COMMDS usage in all TDMF sessions. These entries can be accessed by using the TSO Monitor (see Average device response times for details). Must have UPDATE authority.

To remove a data set entry, specify DELETE.

No history logging
VOLUME SECURITY= If a security package is installed, it is possible to have volume level security by using (SAF) calls. See Setting up security for TDMF. YES NO No SAF calls
WTO MESSAGES FOR AUTOMATED OPERATIONS REQUIRED= If an automated operations package is in use and you want TDMF use it, TDMF displays specific messages that are related to start, confirmation, prompts for synchronization and termination on the system console. See Improving performance for more detail. YES NO No WTO or WTOR issued to console
AUTOMATIC ICKDSF = If YES is specified, the ICKDSF program is called when necessary to synchronize a migrated volume's VTOC with its target device. This setting is ignored for APPROVAL mode migrations. Dynamic ICKDSF running is not supported for APPROVAL mode migrations. YES NO NO
CHECK TARGET EMPTY = If YES is specified, target volumes is examined during session initialization and the migration job fails if any contains user data. YES NO NO
ACTIVE IN COPY = If YES is specified, only volumes in the copy or first refresh phases is considered as active. This affects only migrations in which volume activation is delayed by the setting of a maximum concurrent volumes limit. YES NO NO
UNIDENTIFIED SYSTEMS ACTION = Determines what action is taken by TDMF when a source volume is found to which logical paths are established by a system that is not defined in the SESSION control statement. For more information, see Updating system defaults with the GTDSOPTN batch job. IGNORE WARN ERROR TERMINATE TERMINATE
OVA REGISTRATION INTERVAL = For every OVA volume, provides a time interval (in minutes) after completion of the Point-In-Time migration during which the 15-minute OVA inactivity timeout does not take effect. 1 to 4-digit number

(max is 1440)

0
WTO AUTO OPERATION MVS ROUTCDE = Write to Operator MVS route codes. Values are 1 - 28. Multiple values can be specified and must be separated by a comma and ended with a ‘)’. (x, x, x) WTO route codes 2, 4, 6 and 11
SMF RECORD ID = User specified SMF record to be created for SMF recording purposes. Valid values are 128 - 255, or 0 for no SMF recording (see Pacing with channel extenders for details.) 128-255

0

0 (No SMF recording)
DISPLAY TIME AS = TDMF defaults to the GMT time display on sysout. It can be set to local time. For information on setting displays to local time, see Transactional terabyte license (TTL), terabytes purchased, terabytes moved. GMT LOCAL GMT
VOLUME PACING REQUIRED = If pacing is selected, TDMF dynamically determines the impact to real storage on the Master system and I/O operations on all source volumes you select in the session. If there are any impacts, attempts will be made to decrease the impact upon the resource dynamically and then return to normal levels after the resource bottleneck is alleviated. See Improving performance. YES

NO

NO
ALLOW INVALID COUNT FIELDS = If YES is specified, the presence of non-standard record count fields do not cause termination of a volume migration. YES NO NO
STARTUP CONFIRMATION REQUIRED = A volume confirmation screen with warning messages (if applicable) for review and approval before a volume migration proceeds.
Note: If WTO MESSAGES FOR AUTOMATED OPERATIONS REQUIRED = yes, a Write-to-Operator with Response (WTOR) is sent to the system console in addition to the TDMF TSO Monitor.
YES NO No volume confirmation
TERMINATE ALL VOLUMES IN GROUP ON ERROR = If an error on any volume occurs within a specific group of volumes, the entire group stops. YES NO No group termination
REVERSE PACING = If YES is specified, volumes that are migrated with the pacing option begin the copy phase by using single-track buffers. The buffer size increases only if volume activity and performance meet TDMF criteria. YES NO NO
