Deleting service IP labels

You can use the SMIT interface to remove IP labels and an IP addresses.

About this task

To delete an IP label or an IP address, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. From the command line on any node in the cluster, enter smit sysmirror.
  2. In the SMIT interface, select Cluster Applications and Resources > Resources > Configure Service IP Labels/Addresses > Remove Service IP Label(s)/Address(es).
  3. Select one or more labels that you want to delete from the list and press Enter.
  4. Verify and synchronize the cluster.
  5. For maintenance purposes, delete the labels/addresses from the /etc/hosts file.

Results

After you delete service ip labels from the cluster configuration by using smit, remove the deleted service ip labels from the /etc/hosts file to avoid conflicting entries in future.

Note: If you delete the service ip labels when the associated resource group is online, an application outage may occur.
