Tuning database indexes

To address slow query execution, you typically want to create indexes or verify that indexes are being used by a query.

In particular, you typically perform the following tasks:

Create a database index for the most selective column in the query
Possibly create a database index for other columns
Identify the possible reasons why existing indexes are not used in the query execution plan
