Editing work items

In the search results of a work item search, you can change the values of many of the displayed workflow fields.

About this task

For fields with simple data types, you can directly change the values of those fields in the search results table.

For fields with an array data type, only the first 100 characters of the field are displayed.

Restriction: Do not modify work items in the following system queues except as directed by your IBM® technical support representative:
  • Delay
  • InstructionSheetInterpreter
  • CE_Operations
Restriction: If a work item is in a queue to which you do not have access rights, you cannot modify the work item. For information about access rights, see Workflow security.

Procedure

To edit work items:

  1. Retrieving work items. Retrieve work items in accordance with the following search parameters:
    Search result type Work Items
    Search mode Editable
  2. Select one or more work items.
  3. Click Actions > Lock actions > Lock Selection to lock the selected work items. Some work items might be locked by other users. The administration console prompts you to optionally override the locks so that you become the owner of the locks. A work item might also be locked by the system. You cannot override system locks.
  4. Click Actions > Edit Field Values.
    If this option is not enabled, one or more of the selected work items is not editable.
  5. Edit the field values.
  6. Click Actions > Save Actions > Save Selected Changes.
  7. Click Actions > Lock actions > Unlock Selection to unlock the work items.
