Content Platform Engine, Version 5.2

Designating a folder as a security parent by using Security Folder

You can configure a document or custom object to inherit permissions from a folder using the Security Folder property.

About this task

Run this procedure as part of your initial security configuration, after you have created document classes or custom object classes and you have configured their default security instance tabs. It is best to establish security inheritance before putting an object store into production.

Procedure

To designate a folder as a security parent by using Security Folder:

  1. Log in to Administration Console for Content Platform Engine as object store administrator (object_store_admin).
  2. Open the Object Store node, select Browse > Root Folder, and navigate to the folder that will serve as the Security Folder.
  3. Click the folder and select the Security tab. Make sure the folder has ACEs whose Apply to setting is either This object and immediate children or This object and all children. See Configure a folder's security inheritance for reference.
  4. Click Actions and select Copy Object Reference.
  5. Navigate to the folder containing the document whose security inheritance you are configuring.
  6. Open the document and select the Properties tab.
  7. Scroll down the list of properties and find Security Folder.
  8. Click the Property Value field and then click the drop down arrow. When you see Paste Object, select it.
  9. Click Save. You will see the name of the folder appear as the Property Value for the Security Folder property.
  10. Click the Security tab, and confirm that the Security Folder's inheritable ACEs appear, with Source type of Inherited.
