Configuring automatic classification for XML documents

About this task

You can configure automatic classification for XML documents to automatically populate Document object properties with values that are based on data extracted from incoming XML document content.

Procedure

To configure automatic classification for XML documents:

  1. Know the types of XML documents you are adding to the object store. These XML documents must have consistently identified elements with values that will populate selected properties in document classes. For more information, see How the classifier chooses a script.
  2. Create one or more document classes to which the automatically classified documents are assigned. For more information, see Creating a document subclass.
  3. Based on your knowledge of the expected incoming XML document types, create one or more XSLT scripts that map XML values to property values of a document class. For more information, see Property mapping script example.
  4. Create one or more XML property mapping script objects. For each object, specify the XSLT script that maps XML values to property values of a document class, the XML document type that identifies the incoming XML documents for which the XML property mapping script will be used, and the target class to which incoming XML documents will be assigned. For more information, see Creating an XML property mapping script (Enterprise Manager only).
  5. Create one or more entry templates to use when adding documents for automatic classification. Make sure that the entry templates are set to automatically determine property values by analyzing the object's content. For more information, see Set the object properties.
