Installing and administering Data Product Hub
Data Product Hub requires tasks completed on both IBM Software Hub and within Data Product Hub.
Before you begin
Complete the following installations before you begin working with Data Product Hub:
IMPORTANT: If you plan to use the Flight service as a delivery method for data products, you must configure an external Flight route on your cluster before installing Data Product Hub. For details, see Configuring an external route to the Flight service in the IBM Software Hub documentation. After the external route is configured, you must bind the route to Data Product Hub by following these steps: How to configure an external Flight URL route to deliver data products with Data Product Hub.
Administering Data Product Hub
You can perform administrative tasks for Data Product Hub, such as managing storage and connections. Ensure that you have the required permissions to complete these administrative tasks.

| Managing storage | Admin role in the Data Product Hub community | The administrator configures a target storage location for delivering data extract files. The connection for the target location requires read/write credentials. |
| Managing the Data Product Hub community | Admin role in the Data Product Hub community | The administrator adds users or groups to the community and assigns the appropriate roles. For more details, see Roles and permissions for Data Product Hub. |
| Managing data source connections | Editor role in the Data Product Hub community | Administrators and data product producers manage the data source connections that they own. They can edit or delete a connection, or share it with community members. |
| Creating business domains | Admin role in the Data Product Hub community | Administrators can create and manage custom business domains for data products. |
| Managing custom properties | Admin role in the Data Product Hub community | Administrators can create and manage custom properties to apply to data products. |
