Getting started with EDB Postgres

Use the EDB Postgres services EDB Postgres Standard and EDB Postgres Enterprise, to provision and manage PostgreSQL databases in IBM Software Hub.

With EDB Postgres, you can benefit from performance diagnostics, enterprise security features, and Oracle database compatibility with EDB Postgres Enterprise. You can access enhanced productivity tools for developers and database administrators. Ensure high availability, automated backup orchestration, and scalable storage, RAM, and vCPUs.

Checking whether the service is installed

An administrator must install EDB Postgres.

To check whether the service is installed:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Services > Services catalog.
  2. Search for EDB Postgres.

If the service is installed and ready to use, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to use.

If the service is installed but no service instances have been created, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to provision.

Important: Even if the service is Ready to use, you must be added to a service instance to use the service.

Accessing the service

Pop-out EDB Postgres is a pop-out service. You can access the service from the Service > Service instances page.
Restriction: The Service > Service instances page is not available in the IBM Software Hub experience. If you are logged in as an IBM Software Hub administrator, you must switch to a different experience before you can access the page.
